The way it was left was horrible that’s true but at what point could the military have pulled out and it wouldn’t have turned out into a friend of Iran?

It was a disaster from the beginning, and the Bush administration knew it. Go back and see what Dick Cheney was saying after Operation Desert Storm when he was asked why the U.S. didn't invade Iraq and topple Saddam Hussein's regime back then.
The chain of events he predicted in the early 1990s was exactly what happened in the 2000s. Donald Trump would do well to steer clear of every pr!ck who worked for either Bush administration in any capacity involving foreign/military affairs.
