Appearing on Fox Newss Outnumbered on Friday, former United Nations ambassador John Bolton blasted NBCs Chuck Todd for taking to Twitter on Thursday to attack President Trumps un-American criticism of the media during a press conference: I thought that tweet was one of the most foolish things I've seen from the media in a long time, and you know, that's a pretty low bar there. The media is not entitled to worship.
He continued: It's not entitled to respect as an institution. Its not entitled to deference by political leaders. It is entitled under the First Amendment to say what it wants to say. Thats it. And you know, the notion that the press is somehow specially protected by the First Amendment...that they have a special status, is ridiculous.

Say what? Are you a troll?
No. Are you a lover of the dishonest media? Shut them down.
The President has no authority to repeal the 1A.
You don’t shut down a bunch of lying sacks of shit by repealing our right to speak freely. Yours is one of the most stupid posts I’ve seen here in a very long time.
Again, I repeat.... Are you a troll? Because what you posted is dumb as hell and looks like it was said to provoke people here.
Or would you like to clarify that?
What are you talking about? Are you joking?
I HATE Chuck Todd. That bearded smug bastard is the epitome of arrogance.
Maxine Waters said that Trump is going to bring back slavery.
The news media operates in a world of double standards
but expects to be treated with reverence and respect.
They’ll get neither from me.
I don't know if you are aware of this, but the First Amendment has already been repealed.
You can be arrested for saying certain words.
Freedom of speech [spoken word], freedom of the press [printed word]
Unapologetic Truthing.
Sometimes it’s hard to see the trees through the forest, or something like that.
He has a GREAT POINT here - we’re not talking ‘censorship’, or ‘prior-restraint’, all we are talking about is BOTH SIDES (now) actually engaging in dialogue...maybe sounding silly at times, but still dialogue - that’s actually EXACTLY what the founders wanted.
When Trump starts to say that his Communications people need to clear articles before being published, then we even people like us will oppose him, as that is censorship. But if Trump wanted to do that, he’d already be talking about it - right now just firing back and mocking them is doing just fine.
Bolton..a bit neo for my liking
Is proving to be a good asset
He would not say .
Ever notice how the media never covers itself? If it ever did, would the coverage be fair?
The press is protected by 1A. The Constitution singles them out as a protected class. Think of societies in which the media is not free to say whatever they want. You don’t want to live there.
That said, nothing shields the press from the consequences of their own actions. Libel laws exist to help keep them honest, though the bar is high when plaintiff is a public figure. Citizens have every right to challenge the press or simply ignore them. We’re not hostages.
The President is right to call them out. He’s making no effort to silence anyone, however.
The Constitution has been interpreted by the courts to mean that political speech gets the highest possible protection under 1A.
This is going to be a very long slog. The media won’t change. What can be changed, however, is public perception of the media. That’s what we should be aiming for.
Chuck Todd and his comrades should read and abide by their own Code of Ethics, particularly “Pursuit of the news is not a license for arrogance or undue intrusiveness.”

Where I work, every article, speech, poster, etc., must be reviewed and cleared before it can be disseminated to the public. It is not censorship, it is to protect information that should not be made public. And there are all kinds of reasons to protect information.
