THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

COLE PORTER

KISS ME, KATE

HOWARD KEEL & KATHRYN GRAYSON: “SO IN LOVE”

This may be Cole’s masterpiece, and for sheer beauty there is nothing like it in his output. He sets it in a dark minor key, but in a breathtaking moment he resolves it in the major. This clip is from the 1953 MGM musical.

Thanks for the link to Porter's "So In Love". It was so refreshing to hear bona fide talent and musicality.

As one wag put it, "Too many Americans today love noise, not music"...and he was so right.

This duet was pure music to the ears.
