Building a border wall “undermines who we are as a country,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told a news conference on Thursday. She said she is “opposed to the wall”—“politically, substantively, officially, spiritually, religiously, personally.”
She also described recent ICE raids across the country as “another assault on our values.”
“In the past week, we have witnessed ICE raids across our nation targeting parents, students and a DACA-protected dreamer...We have seen press reports that federal immigration agents went to the El Paso County courthouse and arrested an undocumented woman who had just received a protective order after suffering domestic violence. The agents apparently detained the woman after receiving a tip, possibly from her alleged abuser. What is this?” Pelosi asked. “You know, It’s supposed to be—they’re only supposed to be—” (She trailed off and did not finish her thought.) …

1. Americans pay attention to immigration laws in other countries because when they travel, they’d like NOT to be stuck in a foreign prison.

This, “That’s not who we are” phrase is used in the most condescending and pejorative manner by Obama, Pelosi as they talk down to the rest of America from their political dung heap.
I suggest they keep using this phrase because it is like nails on a chalkboard to millions of Americans. I have even seen Democrats blanch at the constant arrogant lecturing by these self appointed elitists.

I was thinking the same thing, Awgie. “Who we are” is being used by people who are talking about long ago when it was “who THEY were”. “We” have now recovered, and the blinders are off. America for Americans should be the new phrase. I’m hoping TPTB will add a new paragraph to the base of the Statue of Liberty indicating new immigrants should be packing some job skills,vigor, and a work ethic in their baggage or don’t bother coming.

It is a law. The Secure Fence Act of 2006 has not been repealed. It passed with 26 Democrat senate votes (including both California senators) and 64 Democrat house votes.
Just like other immigration laws, it has simply not been enforced. Enforce the law! Or change the law. But until changed, enforce the law!

I read somewhere that the illegals are costing us over 50 billion per year. Seems high. Billions of dollars are confiscated from the drug trade.
