Swampgate: President Trump may have come to Washington to "drain the swamp," but now he's finding out that it's full of nasty swamp creatures. And, as he's also discovered, they bite.
The debacle over national security advisor Michael Flynn's sudden departure over his ill-advised contacts with Russian government officials shows that the Democrats in Congress and the bureaucrats that work with them mean to take as many scalps and do as much damage possible to Trump's barely 3-weeks-old presidency.
If they can fatally damage him early in his first term, all the better.
And they have help. The media have been slobbering at the chance to slip their chains and take a bite out of Trump, who has so far bested them in Twitter battles and, worse, made them irrelevant to a large segment of the population.
Meanwhile, federal bureaucrats, fearing Trump's vow to shrink big government and root out corruption, are digging in as if fighting for their very lives. That's why intelligence "sources," as the media call them, are willing to break the law to subvert Trump's administration. They have too much to lose if he wins.

“Watergate...was nothing....”
...and it’ll be a cold day in he%% when any one of the subversive punks in the media and government make ANYTHING at all out of all the scandals and wrongdoing in the Clinton and Obama administrations.
(All those communists were right: the United States would be destroyed from within.)
IMHO
The old adage, “When you’re up to your a$$ in alligators, it’s difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp”, is obviously quite true. However, when you have enough firepower to deal with the alligators, the task is much more likely to succeed. Trump has the firepower. It’s called his cabinet, probably the most competent and effective cabinet ever assembled. Look at the effort that’s attempting (mostly unsuccessfully) to disable it. Once in place, the alligators better beware.
Should read Revenge of the Butt Hurt Marxists. I’m beginning to get really pissed at the embedded filth under the fingernails of the FedGov. Swamp People may not be cool, but they work for a living. Rant/off.
I see George Soros’ fingerprints all over this.
Speculation: Flynn was sacrificed, and was intended to be sacrificed, in order to induce the deep state to take action and expose themselves. Consequence: shadow.gov is no longer in the shadows. Even Rush Freakin Limbaugh is talking about the deep state. Mission accomplished.
These are people that would never never never draw attention to themselves unless they felt threatened, and they are threatened. They fund themselves off the books with drugs and kids. The border wall and the nearly daily busts of pedo rings and human trafficking that you do not hear anything about in the national news are the threat to their black funding.
In the days of old they would have asked if it was Trump’s WaterLOO which would seem to me to make far more sense. Had Nixon been a democrat the press would be referring to the wonderful days of Watergate as the epitome of good government.
Watergate led to an impeachment. Probably they are talking about the possibility of an impeachment (however improbable)
“... Watergate led to an impeachment ...”
-
Not really.
Technically, the impeachment did take place but was followed by a pardon by President Ford. At any rate it led to Nixon’s ouster
“... the impeachment did take place ...”
-
Nope.
You are wrong.
Nixon resigned prior to any impeachment proceedings.
Are you kiddin'? The left today still recruits off the old Howard Dean/Whitehouse Plumbers storyline. They got to hang Nixon's scalp on their TeePee Lodge Pole. We laid rest to that when we (FR and Buckhead in particular) took Dan Rather out in spectacular fashion.
Cheers!
Nixon wasn’t impeached and there were no impeachment hearings. Only elected President to have been impeached was Clinton.
You are right — impeachment proceedings were initiated against Bill Clinton. Andrew Jackson and Nixon were the only other Presidents who faced impeachment proceedings. Jackson and Clinton were acquitted but Nixon was not.
There were no impeachment proceedings for Nixon.
He resigned before they could commence.
Excellent point. The rhetorical explanation: Nixon was not a Democrat thug.
Soros needs a double tap between the eyes.
Impeachment proceedings against Nixon began in February 1974; he resigned in August 1974.(At least Wikipedia thinks so.) But no question that Clinton deserved it, not Nixon.
I recall the incident when a CDC Security Guard was permitted on an elevator with Obama and two Secret Service agents. The CDC Security Guard had a loaded, functional firearm holstered. The only reason he got busted was because he asked Obama for an autograph, and that's not seemly, for a guard to ask the Preezy like that. Later, there was a big dustup because the SS let him on the elevator without disarming him.
I trust no more mistakes like that will happen, now that Trump is President.
