The Marine Corps has a civilian police force. Would that come under national defense you think?No hiring freeze for national defense and law enforcement (under this President).
I think the police force for the Marines is the Navy Shore Patrol if not MP's (Military Police)...They aren't civilians

There is a marine corps civilian police dept. My son is a marine and sees them every day on base, and I was applying for a position.
There are about 1200 of them serving on every Marine base. They investigate domestics, theft, battery, security for the base etc.
