“And who are these ‘top’ Republicans?”

There was an article here the other day that had a strange list of four: Collins, Murkowsky, Isakson and Scott.

Agree. Force the Republican NO votes to go on record to expose themselves.

Some of the Dems may vote in favor, maybe enough to offset the principled conservatives who vote against.

Thanks for the info. I did not know about Ross.
Mulvaney has the same problem.
I knew he was a Cheap Labor Express Republican before this revelation.
I’m not comfortable with any of them being in the Trump cabinet.
I don’t have domestic employees, but I do check out contractors before I hire them.
I had windows replaced last year and rejected several bids because the contractor could not/would not provide proof of legal employees.

Puzder is withdrawing his name from consideration. This according to a FoxNews alert.

He had a housekeeper that turned out to be an illegal.

He didn't know her status and when he did, he took corrective action.

So let's be hypocrites about it then. Since they turn their eye away from such unlawful activity...we should too.

My post illustrated how the Dems pick and choose to enforce only such laws that suit their agenda. See for instance, the current clamoring over the Logan Act.

Your response suggests that I, and perhaps others on this thread would give the candidate a pass on his behavior. For that, you clearly assume too much.

But while we are on point, I will argue that employing a displaced migrant is a petty violation of the law as compared with a local or state government maintaining sanctuary cities; as in the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony.

Trump should come out publicly with a statement saying that we will demand an open vote so we know who the enemies in the party are.

Withdraw the nomination and close the department. Problem solved!

One quote from the man should tell you a lot.

“My opinion is that the media is the main
supporter of healthy eating. We’re certainly
not hearing it from our customers.”
— Andrew Puzder, CEO of Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr.

For years now, the Department of Labor has been infested with anti-business leftist agitators. So the Democrats think they have a ‘right’ to keep it this way. They are adamantly opposed to Puzder because he is pro-business.

As far as hiring an illegal alien for housekeeping, if you eliminate every candidate who did that, there wouldn’t be an elected official left in Washington. It is a very common practice. Eventually he fired her, and paid the outstanding state and federal taxes.

Years ago, his ex-wife, incognito appeared on Oprah and claimed that he had beaten her, when the couple were going through a messy divorce. But she has not only recanted, but has offered to speak to senators to admit she was lying, and is angry at the media for harping on the accusation while ignoring her recanting of it.

In any event, to President Trump’s credit, he is willing to allow Mr. Puzder to go through the confirmation process.

Doing so may also impact the future confirmation for the new SCOTUS justice. To let future appointees know that he will not just cut and run at the first sign of trouble.
