Assemblywoman Teresa Benitez-Thompson, D-Reno, provided the first gotcha moment of the 2017 Legislature. She rose Friday to refer a group of bills to committee, but she did so in Spanish.
She then stopped and said, Im sorry. Im sorry. In keeping with the spirit of Assembly Bill 131, I will make sure all comments remain in English. AB131 would make English Nevadas official language.
While liberals celebrated her burn, most of those who gloated didnt understand what she was saying until she spoke English. Thats exactly why English should be Nevadas official language. Empathy, discussion, debate even verbal jabs require that people understand one another.

English should be the official language of the United States and no government business or documents should be in any other language.
Foreigners should provide their own translators if they need them.

To become a citizen, immigrants must learn English. There’s no reason not to make English the official national language.
I miss the days of going to the grocery store without being assaulted by Spanish on every label. The McDonald’s here put the menu in Spanish but took it down very quickly after customers complained quite loudly. Maybe then we won’t be charged for Spanish tv channels. Make Hispanics pay for them.
Which is precisely why laws requiring election documents in any language other than English are not needed and were intended just to facilitate fraud by the rat party.
Do you feel safe driving on the public roads knowing that a lot of illegals are out there who can’t read the road signs?

And for that matter, why would they obey our highway laws if they’re not going to obey our immigration laws?

Here in National City, CA (hard by downtown San Diego) some supermarkets’ circulars are solely in Spanish; others have a translation in English in small print beneath the Spanish.
English is and should legal be the official language of USA. Obvious is obvious.
It should be America’s official language. This is the best time to do it.
To be consistent, they need to change the name of the state to “Snowy.”
Español se tenga muy belleza, but English is much more functional.
