I still have my dad’s and my craftman’s tools form the 70s. I did like the old big sears catalogues back in the 50’s... we used it for butt wiping in the outhouse....but not the color pages....they just smeared stuff.
That is TMI but I have to say I know exactly what you are talking about. I grew up in the early fifties and well remember the Sears and Roebuck catalog in the outhouse. Thanks for the memories even as rough as those pages were :-) BTW, what happened to Roebuck ??
Grandpa was a frugal man. In the outhouse, a corn cob hung by a string.
My house is a Sears catalog house from 1926. It is the Verona model, a 2 1/2 story colonial. The Sears houses came by rail and you assembled them yourself. All hardwood floors and oak trim, cove ceilings.
Back in the days, Sears was as American as apple pie. I’ll have nothing to do with them now.
When they went from news print paper to the slick magazine style they were on the way out.
When I was a kid every outhouse in my neighborhood had the phonebook sized catalog laying on a seat ready to rip a page out to read then wipe.
