Or to put it more practically...the one surprise the left has experienced in the past decade, beginning with the near-instantaneous rise of the Tea Party and culminating with Trump, is that the right is beginning to battle the left according to the left’s rules, and the left still does not yet know what has hit them.

Saul Alinsky describes 24 rules in Rules for Radicals. Of those 24 rules, 13 are rules of “power tactics”:
1. “Power is not only what you have but what the enemy
thinks you have.”
2. “Never go outside the experience of your people.”
3. “Wherever possible go outside of the experience of the
enemy.”
4. “Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules.”
5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

2. “The judgment of the ethics of means is dependent upon the political position of those sitting in judgment.”

4. “Judgment must be made in the context of the times in which the action occurred and not from any other chronological vantage point.”
5. “Concern with ethics increases with the number of means available and vice versa.”
6. “The less important the end to be desired, the more one can afford to engage in ethical evaluations of means.”
7. “Generally success or failure is a mighty determinant of ethics.”
8. “The morality of a means depends upon whether the means is being employed at a time of imminent defeat or imminent victory.”

The problem with the quote is that Adams doesn't posit what happens to the generation that learns poetry and music: it has to spawn children who are willing to learn war all over again, or the society is doomed. With Trump, the Boomer and Xer poets are beginning to buy guns, and it won't take long for enough of the Millennials to follow to counteract the snowflakes--and some of the snowflakes themselves might harden into shuriken, at which point the enemy will be doomed for good.
That is one of the things we like most about President Trump. GWB was focused on terrorism and never successfully stood up to the left to get rid of the millions of illegals in our country. Rubio, Jeb, and the rest of the GOP establishment would have invited even more illegals. Patriotic voters were not impressed. Trump showed how to do it, and no one learned from him except his voters.
And now we are woke, as the ridiculous Left would put it, to the Left’s tired Alinsky antics. We see it’s all a lie. It’s all a scam.
And the irony is that Hillary is supposed to be the expert on Alinsky....what with an internship and a masters thesis on Alinsky.
