President Donald Trump has squashed Eliot Abrams’ hopes of being picked for a crucial State Department post.

Abrams had emerged as a possible contender for Deputy Secretary of State, it was reported on Monday, and even met with Trump to discuss the position, according to Politico.

Trump, however, reportedly vetoed Abrams’ appointment after learning Abrams had been a vocal critic during the campaign. Abrams, a Republican Establishment neoconservative, was incredibly hostile toward Trump’s campaign and its America first message.

“This was Donald Trump’s thin skin and nothing else,” a Republican source reportedly told Politico.

But it’s not difficult to see why Trump might not have the strongest desire to give such a man the number-two position in the State Department

Yup. Given all the crap that the libs are throwing at Trump, these big-mouth Republicans need to keep their mouths shut and support their boss.

I wonder who in Trump’s administration placed Abrams’ name on a list to be considered?

SOS Rex Tillerson did if you can believe the WashPost.

Considering the rest of that article, which borders on Fake News, it's quite possible that not even the SOS wanted this neocon to watch after.

The Council on Foreign Relations and Goldman-Sachs have an outsize influence on this Administration just like on others. Not as damning as it sounds because there are factions within those organizations.

There will need to be limits to how much Trump can delegate authority to keep the factions he disagrees with in check.

““The core point here is that this comes from Trump’s thin-skinnedness,” said a top Republican strategist who supported the Abrams appointment.”

Yet, just a week ago,the NYT reported this about Abrams:

“Elliott Abrams, a neoconservative who has long argued for an activist foreign policy that spreads American values around the world, was advising Republicans just last spring to “keep your distance” from Donald J. Trump and offering advice about what the party should do after the “Trump collapse.””

Could be President Trump wants employees who are loyal AND philosophically compatible, instead of Neocon Bush-buddy warmongering “nation builders” like Abrams who hate Trump’s guts, INCLUDING the “top” (but anonymous) “Republican” who “supported” Abrams.

After all, how many people who were antithetical to Obama’s philosophies did Obama appoint besides Hillary?
