without getting us all in trouble, why a pressure cooker? What is the material and or fuel that causes the reaction? Are these potentially more powerful than conventional ones?
I understand the Boston guys used cookers from Williams Sonoma. Those are really pricey cookers. Can’t you use the Kmat/Walmart type?
The containment provided by the pressure cooker means that the energy from the explosion is confined until the pressure cooker itself explodes, creating a relatively large explosion using low explosives and generating potentially lethal shrapnel. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pressure_cooker_bomb
If you really want to know - google it, Fool.
The more expensive models are made of heavier metals which provide a larger build-up of pressure, a bigger, ‘BOOM’ and lots more shrapnel.

It contains the expanding gasses longer thus increasing the velocity of the shrapnel, increasing the lethality of the device.

They were "refugees" living off the public teat, so it wasn't like they were paying with their own money.
1. The Williams Sonoma was probably closer than Kmart/Walmart.
2. The Williams Sonoma is probably safer than Kmart/Walmart.
3. They were spending YOUR TAX MONEY so cost is no object.
