It would have been better to have said nothing. The dead are defenseless, and already facing eternal justice. However justified the suffering at this decedent’s hands might have been, the souls of the living are only poisoned by bitterness.

Exactly, this man had children and grandchildren. those so upset wouldnt be in this world if not for him. i dont see anything about child abuse. no need to speak of the dead that way.

My dad was a WW-II marine and the VA provided me with a headstone for his grave. When I ordered it engraved only with Semper Fi, the cemetery director asked me if I wanted to include “In loving memory....yada, yada.” I said no, he wasn’t that to me.

True enough, but the not-so-evil might get their faults praised for the sake of some few paltry virtues. Better to go negative than risk that. Non saving graces should be non-relevant.
