I am a refugee myself from the Soviet Socialistic Republic of California. I was born in Anaheim, spent most of my childhood in Southern California, and had my first job after college in Tustin, California. In 1995 I emigrated out of California and have never returned to live because of the high taxes, high home prices, and lackluster economy thanks to the socialistic tendencies of its leaders. I now live in Texas.

No, we should not have Calexit but preserve the Union. When the raise the Confederate flag with their cries for Calexit I remind all that such a flag should be put in a museum.

Like our revolutionary forefathers who fought to leave Great Britain, the Jeffersonians are pursuing separation from California at least in part because they are not adequately represented in the statehouse. Between 1926 and 1964, California's rural areas enjoyed healthy representation in the legislature based on Proposition 28, which provided for a government model similar to the federal government's construction.

There was roughly one state senator for each county (with only the most sparsely populated counties sharing a senator), while the assembly was seated largely with urban representatives, thus California's bicameral legislature had checks and balances between country and city interests.

With the 1964 Reynolds v. Sims case, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the state legislative voting districts must represent roughly equal populations, thereby cementing the idea of "one person, one vote" set in motion by the 1962 Baker v. Carr and 1963 Gray v. Sanders cases.

The Reynolds ruling opened the door for the neutralization of Proposition 28. The result: thirty-six percent of California's counties now have less than eight percent of the representation in the legislature.

This history mirrors what has occurred at the Federal level, and the end result will ultimately be the same. A few urban areas will dictate everything... up until the system collapses.

Note also the 1964 date corresponds with the turning point for the Golden State. It has tacked ever leftward since then end now it accelerates toward the end; much like Venezuela.

Jefferson needs to include the Central Valley and some of Northern California is just too liberal to be included. The map of Jefferson needs to be redrawn. And if California calves off a 51st state then you surely will see Puerto Rico become 52 just as statehood for Alaska begat statehood for Hawaii. 2 new republican senators won’t go over without 2 New dhimmicrat senators

I’ve been reading for decades that CA is on the verge of economic collapse. Yet they are the 6th largest economy in the world by GDP. So something must be amiss in these predictions.

California has over 30 million people and 55 electoral votes so the strongest opposition to California leaving the US would be liberal people not conservative people.

I’m not too well clued up on this but surely the political power of California, its representatives and its electoral votes are ultimately dependent on its population. If the population is fleeing from the State, then surely its political clout will diminish too? Or does it not work that way?

Given that I am a 3rd generation native of this once Golden State, I can emphatically state, that CA is FUBAR.

I don’t give a rip what MOB RULE democrat voters do, but I will sue the bejesus out of the state for relocation expenses, mental distress, hardship, etc., UNLESS the “UTOPIAN basket of freebies” for the “underprivileged” meets all my expectations and then some!

CA has been able to flirt with collectivism because of their terminal addiction with Fed dollars. They don’t have the revenue to go alone and be the sugar daddy for so many dependent people and projects. No doubt most of their voters are not aware of this.

Not to mention they are dependent on other states for water and electricity.

When the hordes of illegal aliens are kicked out of Kalifornia, it may regain some sanity and become the wonderful place it used to be 40 years ago before it became a national cuckoo nest.

I say, give it one last chance before we write it off.

“California today is effectively a socialist democracy, with lopsided representation. This defies the republican tradition of the United States.”

After reading the article again it occurred to me that CONGRESS has Failed Miserably and are duty bound to enforce the US Constitution in California.

“Article 4, section 4

The United States shall guarantee to every State in
this Union a Republican Form of
Government, ...”

“California’s rural areas enjoyed healthy representation in the legislature based on Proposition 28, which provided for a government model similar to the federal government’s construction.”

California DOES NOT HAVE a Republican form of Government and CONGRESS is REQUIRED to Fix it. Simply pass Legislation reinstating Prop 28 for California. Restrict the Judiciary from getting involved by legislation as provide for in

Article 3, section 2

“...in all the
other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress
shall make. “

CONGRESS CAN FIX IT by simply following the US Constitution and in so doing destroy the stranglehold the marxist demonrats have on this State.

I believe the President could also do it by Executive Order as part of his duty to ENFORCE THE US CONSTITUTION!!, even if he needs to declare Martial Law in the State to “Guarantee a Republican form of Government” and do it by Force. The President and Congress are REQUIRED BY THE CONSTITUTION TO DO JUST THAT!!!
