An Arizona woman who has lived in the U.S. for more than two decades was arrested Wednesday night after her regular check-in with immigration officials and has been deported to Mexico. She was sent to Nogales, Mexico, on Thursday, reports Katherine Fritcke of member station KJZZ.
Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos' deportation which has been protested by dozens of activists, some of whom were arrested late Wednesday is a glimpse of how immigration enforcement is changing under the Trump administration.
She had had a deportation order against her for several years but was not considered a priority for deportation during the Obama administration. But two weeks ago, President Trump issued an executive order changing deportation priorities; Garcia de Rayos is believed to be one of the first people deported under that expanded enforcement.
The New York Times reports that Garcia de Rayos, now 35, was just 14 when she "sneaked across the border" from a poor district in Mexico into southern Arizona.

> I think she had trouble with the law
One could say that. She is a convicted felon, found guilty of identity theft. Having been a victim myself, I can say what a heinous crime it is, as one constantly looks over their shoulder for the next shoe to drop. Apparently, as part of the verdict, she agreed to self-deport, I think I heard. So, she is not only guilty of coming here illegally, of perpetrating felonious identity theft, but also of failing to carry out the agreed to self-deportation.
You and me both. What a set up for a sympathetic poster child narrative. Were her sisters Pilar and Fatima with her? Guess there were no tatooed, pierced, MS-13 gang bangers that needed to go. What a joke.
I don't know. This may be a case where the leftist media may screw their own little "show victim" over.
They're making a widely publicized case out of this in an attempt to tug at the heartstrings of the gullible public and make Trump look like a big meanie.
All of this spotlight may make it impossible for her to sneak back in.
“I have had my ID stolen it sucks”
Yep, had someone file my State taxes for me two years ago, how considerate of them. Major strain / pain in the rear to get whole again. Police reports, contact the IRS with said report, credit agencies and so on. Oh yes I live in Kalifornia, odds on whom did this?
I got so PO'd, I parted company with tv news media years ago. I can access it for a live event if needed. But that's it. Watching TV news is like watching Tokyo Rose 2017 style. I've been so turned off by the corrupt lying biased media, I no longer have the tolerance for it. Zip.
Bottom line, this judicial charade won't work, Trump will win out. Btw, their decision is so absurd it's almost like they're daring Trump to do something spectacular, bold or controversial. They might get their wish.
[Oh yes I live in Kalifornia, odds on whom did this?]
Amish buggy-drivers from Sweden? Norwegians living as Eskimos?

Let’s use old 1950s garbage trucks as paddy wagons.

“dozens of activists”
Wow. Dozens.
No mention of the fact that she was convicted of identity theft...
Just ran a check on her. She’s a convicted felon. Criminal Impersonation, a class 6 felony. Forgery and Aggravated Taking ID Person/entity charges were dismissed by the court. Maybe she won’t be back as quickly as I thought. There were like 12 defendants on the case. All had the same charges. Sounds like an identity theft ring.
I see what they did there. Pick the most sympathetic case they could find and make sure the cameras are there. Then blow it across the country to prove how heartless President Trump is. I think her husband at least (we now know he is also illegal) should go with her.
She was convicted of identity theft - a felony!
Identity theft is a nasty, nasty crime which can cause more trauma to the victim than an armed robbery, of which my daughter was a victim . . . multiple trips to the state police to poor over mug books of people meeting the description.
And, yes, a Hispanic. My daughter was so angry she said she could have beaten the tar out of the little twerp if he hadn't been holding a gun on her. I don't doubt it. She is tall, slender and athletic and played varsity sports in high school.
I know someone who had their identity stolen twice. He went through years of hell.
