Maybe they could move it to St Louis where he designed the levies that protect the city to this day.

Maybe they could give it to West Point where he graduated at the top of his class.

Maybe they could give it to Washington and Lee University where he served after the war.

Maybe they could give it to Fredericksburg, or Chancellorsville, or the Peninsula, sites of some of his greatest victories.

Maybe they could put it on the Mexican border where he served with distinction in the Mexican war.

Maybe they put it on the surrender grounds in my hometown of Appomattox where he decided against Jefferson Davis call for guerrilla war.

Or they could send it to Chapultepec, where he was wounded -- and make Mexico pay for it.

There's a monument to Benedict Arnold's leg at Saratoga, so nobody could object to a monument to wherever Lee was wounded, especially if it's in another country.

Maybe they can donate it to Fortress Monroe, which Lee helped build when he was in the Army Core of Engineers.
