My experiences with clearances are similar.
I have a new theory. Not saying it’s true, just that it’s a theory.
They make us jump through hoops because they are looking for dirt on us to blackmail us with. When they don’t find any, we get clearances and we perform our classified work with no fanfare.
If they find dirt on us, we might still get a clearance, but we become even more useful because we can be blackmailed. I am beginning to suspect that some of the dirtiest politicians and others at high levels fall into this category.
I am wondering who runs this country. The CIA? The FBI? And who is pulling the strings at those high levels? Soros? Some other group?

That would be the guys/gals doing the basic classified jobs.
Few if any of us have been exposed as traitor/scumbags.

Yep, the politicians with high clearances and civilians with high clearances given by their political party who supervise and monitor those of us in the first group.
