I’ve had a thought about this. DeVos is iffy on Common Core....in her past, she supported it. Now, she is opposed to Common Core. One can’t help but wonder why the teacher’s unions didn’t go after DeVos on Common Core. One can only conclude that the teacher’s unions are real happy with all of the wasted money and jobs caused by Common Core.

Most teachers I know hated Common Core. The one thing that teachers want most after salary and benefits is some level of autonomy in the classroom.

Common Core, No Child Left Behind, etc. all take away flexibility from the teacher and turn teaching jobs into something very similar to factory jobs.

I'm sure bad teachers might like Common Core because it takes all the thinking and responsibility away from them, but decent teachers oppose most initiatives that come out of DC.

She will mushroom charters and then our kids will be in a “good school” taught by TEACH FOR AMERICA Marxist -trained teachers.
Too bad Trump did not give any time to the Conservative grassroots warriors on education.

Common COre is a strange thing. Its good and bad. If you are a weak school it brings out the problems. You can see a standard that you must achieve. However if you are an above average school forget about it. The education will bring you down.

The reality is that there is no common. Not in any state, and not in any classroom. Kids are different. And they should be educated in a fashion that allows quicker kids to move at their rate. And slower kids need the help they need to get to an acceptable level. Remembering that every kid can’t get to an acceptable level. Thats why software is so helpful. Kids can move at different rates.
