The Senate narrowly confirmed Betsy DeVos as education secretary on Tuesday, with Vice President Pence casting a historic tiebreaking vote after senators deadlocked over her fitness for the job.
The entire Democratic caucus of 48 senators voted against DeVos, as did two Republicans, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, who said they did not think that DeVos was qualified for the job. The remaining 50 Republicans voted for DeVos, setting up a 50-50 tie that Pence broke with his vote at about 12:30 p.m.
It marked the first time that a vice presidents tiebreaking vote was needed to confirm a Cabinet secretary, according to Daniel Holt, an assistant historian in the Senate Historical Office.

Narrow approval goes under the Ws. Its a win over the education unions and dim ocrats.
DeVos has enemies in all the right places. She must be a very good choice.
‘Trump is being sabotaged before he has a chance to govern.’
So, what’s new? Unfortunately for them they are only strengthening his resolve and the resolve of real Americans.
It’s like baseball. It only takes one run to WIN. Winning. Remember what the “media” taught us, PRESIDENT Trump had a “very, very narrow path to the White House.”
I do indeed. And, all the time laughing through their miserable teeth.
MAGA!
Since that time and the "choice" discussions under way then, unions and so-called "progressives" have blocked any moves to provide parents and children relief from being imprisoned in failing schools--especially those in inner cities where minorities continue to suffer.
Union influence from the largest union in America, wielding its power through the Progressive Democrat voting block and bureaucrats harms poor and underprivileged students most.
“Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, who said they did not think that DeVos was qualified for the job”
So these two think the most corrupt agency in the US government is performing with qualified personal.
Maybe they should watch Watters World.

“Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, who said they did not think that DeVos was qualified for the job”
Who said these two clowns were qualified to be in the Senate? I wouldn’t hire either of them to be a hotel maid.
Just win baby!!
It’s a discussion the left doesn’t want that have that’s why she’s powerful.
“... did not think that DeVos was qualified for the job...”
This is absolute BS...Devos had a hard time because she was a Trump nominee, pure and simple...
Correction. “personnel”
Correction. “personnel”

The American people have won a massive victory against the teachers’ unions today.
The totally corrupt and incompetent
“public school system” can now have its badly needed colostomy.

During the Obama administration I noticed that a lot of articles included “unexpected” in their title. I think we are now in the era of “firsts”.
Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins is the Republicans version of Maxine Waters and Shelia Jackson Lee. Both are POS.
W for snowflake whining and W for winning. :-)
I have high hopes for this cabinet secretary.
