Lawyers for Washington state and Minnesota have told a federal appellate court that restoring President Donald Trumps ban on refugees and travelers from seven predominantly Muslim countries would unleash chaos again.
The filing with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco came early Monday after the White House said it expected the federal courts to reinstate the ban.
Washington and Minnesota said their underlying lawsuit was strong and a nationwide temporary restraining order was appropriate. If the appellate court reinstated Trumps ban, the states said the ruling would reinstitute those harms, separating families, stranding our university students and faculty, and barring travel.

“Unleash chaos”? Is that a LEGAL term?
“Chaos” my ass. The only thing making it “chaotic” was the ***holes in the “media” and their illegal immigrant “protesters”.
Do it America!
Continue unscreened immigration from terrorist compromised nations
Do it for the children, the families, the students
Especially those 35 year old men who want to attend flight school
Well, the law doesn’t care. 8 USC Sec 1182 (f) gives the President the power to control who comes into our country as he sees fit.
And the inconvenience of 109 travelers out of the over 2 million who fly in the US everyday is nothing.
Guess who those states have a lot of?
In other words “we’ll block traffic and scream again.” Tantrum threat.
No, it’s not.
You know what unleashes real chaos? Terrorist attacks.
The Judiciary has become heavily politicized. The 9th Circuit more than most. I am not at all sure that the Leftist dominated Circuit will decide on the law rather than political agenda. One thing Trump has to do during his term or terms is to break the Judiciary’s attempt to become the premier branch of government over all others.
Chaos....checked....not in Blacks...
Those states filed the lawsuit to override federal law.
People would be harmed by the absence of clear rules who can and who cannot come to the United States.
Of course none of that bothered Washington and Minnesota when they filed a lawsuit to invalidate the travel ban.
Their action led to precisely the consequences they’re now decrying. Liberals are always oblivious to the unintended consequences of their actions which were entirely foreseeable in the first place.
In a word, judicial activism makes for both bad law and bad policy.
That’s what I’m wondering. If that’s the basis of their best legal argument I would expect they would get laughed out of court, maybe even censured for wasting the court’s time. Of course, I actually have zero faith in the legal system so who knows, some libtard judge may embrace their argument.
We need this Restraining Order because we are afraid of the Law???
I think we now know where this started.
Brooklyn Judge Ann Connelly is a longtime friend of Schumer....and likely a Hillary boot licker. Connelly became the chosen antagonist.
These temp order comes with nothing more that "I think it's not right"....
We HAD chaos...the travel ban restores a place of order...the removal of it brings back the chaos.
By what stretch is either state harmed by it? As opposed to our national security interests....
I can’t think of a single good reason why America needs to open our border to Yemen. Or Syria. Or the other five failed Mideast states. It’s not in our national interest.
Head em up!....Move em out!
(rollin' rollin' rollin)
SssssssssKshhhhh!
Correct. She did win MN.
but by a very slim margin. I suspect MN (I sure hope we do) complete the flip next cycle. Republicans already control the house and senate here.
The rat holdovers in statewide office are next to be voted out.
