Austin film production crews, vendors and small business owners are coming together to fight for a state program they rely on. The Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP) was designed to entice big productions to do business in Texas, creating local jobs and spurring the economy. Its used to attract television, video game and film productions to the state.
In 2013, the program got a big boost from the legislature, over $90 million, the largest dollar amount since the program was created in 2005... We reached out to all three lawmakers and received a response from Sen. Burton. While she sees the financial value of the industry, she doesnt believe the government should pay for it.

Bleep sanctuary Austin(Not Really Texas)!
It’s even worse than just “the arts”. There his an entire financial industry based on buying and selling unused film tax credits that ensures the taxpayer gets shafted.
Texas hasn’t gained much from this expenditure. If there hasn’t been a good return on the taxpayers’ investment after five years, it should be dropped. If it’s showing a good return, it should be attracting private funding anyway.
Well, why not just ask for donations from the those in the sanctuary to continue this garbage?
The WSJ had an article on the cost /benefit of incentives for Hollywood.
The states spend (GIVE) big bucks, a few locals get a bit of employment.
Read a similar artice for Pennsylvania. Get rid of it.
The production companies “hire” a lot of interns who work for free. There aren’t very many people in Austin who rely solely on film production to make a living.
.... Still hard to compete with Canada with it’s weak Canadian Dollar. Production companies filming in Canuckland get an immediate 25% saving just by using American Bucks. Of course there are other factors such as wage difference etc but the savings filming in the Great White North are very real.
This same shit in Michigan was a Democrat honey pot.
“Bleep sanctuary Austin(Not Really Texas)!”
Find me a big city in ANY STATE, that IS that state! Big cities are the real problem in this country, because their “inhabitants” have gotten used to being “gibbsmedats” and perpetuate that self-defeating lifestyle by electing RATS to run them.
