I’ve a lot of time for Jim Mattis, He is savvy and is on record saying he thought the war in Iraq was a strategic mistake, but had to go along with it because of “higher powers”.
I’d like to see Mullahs’ regime in Iran dismantled, but do not think militarily invading Iran to do so is a good strategy, at all.
Not only because it will take Decades for the US to stabilize the situation in that region in general, and millions upon millions will be killed, it will also embolden the Sunnis & Wahhabist/Salafists such as: Saudis, Gulf states and alike, who are Known to train, fund and support ISIS & AQ.
IF the US wants to further empower the Wahhabi/Sunni/Salafists, in the ME, North Africa, supported by Saudis/Gulf States, and by default in the West, by attacking Iran, then do it.
But, we don’t live in GWB era. And, the Iran regime is not Saddam or Gaddafi. The consequences all-around will be devastating.
“The consequences all-around will be devastating.”
And....it’s unlikely to remain contained as a Sunni-Shiite religious Civil War.
Remember what the assassination of an Arch-Duke in today’s
Bosnia led to.
