What I'm hearing in the news, is that Republicans will hold off on Sessions as long as needed to use his Senate vote to get a majority for confirming others. If they use the nuclear option and bypass Dems, they'll need Sessions vote in the Senate to get that 51 vote majority (because of a couple Repubs that defect).
The nuclear option was already done by Harry Reid years ago. That is not on the table. They need Sessions to get 50 votes for DeVos because two Republicans have already announced they will vote against her - plus Pence would make a 51-50 confirmation, assuming there are no other defections.
