Matthews said politics have become so polarized that is natural to assume there will be a filibuster against Judge Gorsuch.
"I think this is going to come down, to a sad denouement," Matthews said Wednesday night. "I think it's going to take 60 votes to get this approved and I think the Republicans will have their rank-and-file 52 votes will be there. But I don't think the Democrats are going to give them a single vote which mean this will go to a filibuster."
"I don't think they'll get 60 votes because I don't think they'll get a single Democratic vote, Chris. Not a one," Matthews said.

These protests are going to backfire——and the libs are too stupid to realize it.
.
The thrill is gone, eh Tingles?
That would be interesting,
ive seen it, heard it, read it...(What does it mean??) Ducking for cover!!
Start with BRAC closings in blue states. Then start stealing their companies by offering them better tax breaks. Then you blame the rat for it.
Mitch McConnell will stun many, many, Freepers once again.
He will go Nuclear if need be.
Yeah, I think the Dems will put on this one after their usual theatrics. There is no racial angle to this one. And what the Dems really want to do is engage President Trump directly in a tit for tat food fight.
I PRAY you are correct McConnell will NEED TO GO NUCLEAR!!! Perhaps he is giving the Dems all this room now because he knows he is going to go nuclear over the SCOTUS!!!!
hey I asked someone else but it seems they are too lofty to answer me. what does go nuclear mean?
I fully e,9ect the filibuster for the next 3 weeks but, eventually the Republicans will Institute The Nuclear option and “That” will become the standard each and every time from now on.
Gain some concessions that the new AG will not prosecute too many of them (IMO). All else is probably smokescreen.
Eliminate the filibuster rule. That way a simple majority can bring a nominee up for a vote.
The Republicans better not fold to the threat of a filibuster.
Make them do a real filibuster.
And when they get tired, vote.

Senate Dems will have 24 seats to defend in 2018, several in states Trump either carried or did very well in, and by ‘18 will have benefitted from his term in office. Judge Gorsuch was approved for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit by a Senate vote of 100-0. How do they now oppose him? Because they are having a hissy fit at the man who’s nominated him?
They better get used to the idea, Trump is not going to give them a liberal justice.
Hear! Hear! Past GOP failures to require Democrat obstructionists to actually filibuster is evidence of Senate GOP leadership's complicity in the obstruction.
It means - abolish the Senate rule that permits a filibuster by the minority party that can block legislation or ratifications.
The ratifications then depend on a simple majority vote of 51 Senators to pass legislation or ratify appointments. The Democrats, when they were the majority party already changed this rule for everything else but ratifications.
