Terrible story, but what can be done? My wife is a medical doctor, and the amount of people seeking addictive drugs is staggering.
How can a medical doctor determine who is a druggie vs who is in deep pain?
The risk of losing your medical license is real, I have known two medical doctors who were deemed too liberal in their prescriptions and lost their licenses.
It’s called knowing your patient...sadly, the system today takes more and more time away from the doctor/patient relationship due to the endless bureaucratic paperwork. Yes, KNOW your patient.
I tend to lean Libertarian in some areas, but I don’t buy that drugs of any kind are a ‘victimless’ crime.
The problems is that after extended periods of time on the drugs your system becomes immune to them working and you have to take more for them to work hence the doctors are in a terrible position!!!! If the dosage would continue to work for long periods of time there would not be this problem the patients would be able to get by with the dosage given!!!
Well, people who have undergone traumatic injury and surgery should be placed at the rope of the list or scale, if they even use a scale or are educated about it.
