Senate Democrats doubled down on their opposition to the nomination of Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general, highlighting the need for independence in the office by pointing to President Trumps Monday night dismissal of the acting attorney general.
Praising the actions of acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, who Monday night defiantly announced her refusal to defend in court the presidents executive order banning refugees and travelers from some Muslim countries, Democrats questioned whether Mr. Sessions could be counted on to act independently of the president when warranted. Within hours of Ms. Yates announcement, Mr. Trump fired her, referring to her actions as a betrayal of the Justice Department.
What we saw last night demonstrates what is at stake with this nomination, said Sen. Patrick Leahy, Vermont Democrat, speaking about Ms. Yates actions on Tuesday during a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting.

Umm, the AG is an executive branch position. They serve at the pleasure of the President, and their job is to implement his policy, not to “act independently”. An AG that “acts independently” is simply insubordinate.
Liberal hysteria. It works for me.
This was a trap. The acting AG shot her mouth off knowing Trump would have to fire her. Trump took the bait & viola we have the firestorm on the threshold of the AG vote. Which has been delayed again to give more time to press the rinos Trump needs to learn what he is really up against.
Hahahahaha! MORE entertainment!
I actually think this hysteria is what the administration wants. Here’s why. One can only be outraged and enraged for a short time. I learned this with the former resident of the White House. After a while fatigue sets in and you just can’t get that worked up any more. Yes, I was still disgusted by all the crap the O’s pulled, but my spirit just couldn’t get that roiled any more. I ended up referring to it as my “8 year bad mood”.
Additionally, by calling even the normal every day things “outrageous” you diminish the value of the word. Soon people will shrug at the next “outrage”, knowing the last really wasn’t and this one probably isn’t.
Eventually the victim class will run out of steam, and cease protesting and caterwauling. Life will return to normal, and work will get done. It’s sort of like allowing your 3 year old to have the temper tantrum so he gets good and tired and takes a nap.
You cant have it both ways. You cant lose the election and expect the government to represent your view of what we should be doing, said Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican. The question is, is he qualified? Is he a decent honorable man? He is every bit as qualified and every bit as decent as Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch. (My emphasis.)
With Graham on his side, Sessions is going to win.
I agree, time to blow right through the Dems. Knock them right onto their asses. Enough of this childishness from the emotionally disturbed sorry fools.
There is the real problem. 'rats are not going to change their tactics. McConnell is either complicit with the 'rats or a craven coward. His motives are immaterial but the results are the same.
How long can they delay the AG vote? McConnell needs to get this going!
My post #39:
“Rats pulled some kind of procedural motion and instead of Sessions committee vote being today it will be tomorrow.”
That was the second motion by the Rats for delay of the Sessions vote in committee. The committee vote is said to be tomorrow and another piece I read says the entire Senate vote to confirm will be this week.
I hope that happens because the Rats have been impugning the reputation of Sessions who’s an honorable man.
Like Pres. Trump would continue the INSANITY of the current AG?
