Its not unusual for Disney fans to protest when a change comes to Disney Parks, but typically the subject for protest is an attraction closing or a characters costume changethings that could be considered #DisneyWorldProblems. However, five days ago a petition was created expressing a sentiment seen in protests outside Main Street, U.S.A.
Just this past week, Matthew Rogers of Brooklyn, NY began a petition on change.org that asks The Walt Disney Company to make the Donald Trump figure, destined for the Magic Kingdoms Hall of Presidents, a silent one. The request is unusual because it is customary for the incumbent President to give a speech to the audience along with Abraham Lincoln. This petition suggests that a change from tradition is in order. The very strongly-worded petition reads:
This is a petition to stop the inevitable Donald Trump animatronic figure from speaking, let alone giving a speech similar to the one given by Barack Obama and past incumbent Presidents .[Donald Trump] is perhaps best known for how he uses his words sometimes carelessly, yet oftentimes with the specific intent of degrading, insulting and demeaning not only those who do not agree with him on any given topic, but entire groups of people including Mexicans, Muslims, women and the disabled .We ask that Walt Disney World take a stand against divisive and hurtful rhetoric .
The petition had gathered approximately 750 signatures since being posted four days ago, but after last nights events in which President Trump quickly fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates for speaking out against his Muslim ban and removing the Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for reasons unknown, the petition has now reached over 2,000 signatures
How about a petition to silence Disney fans?
We’re regular DisneyWorld goers, and haven’t been in the Hall for 8 years.
Disney better have Trump speak.
I suspect you’ll have folks being disrespectful at first, but, the Disney Security will deal with them.
Why would any snowflake go into a pro-America exhibit?
Disney knows their money base. Snowflakes do not spend money.
If anything Disney would sell Disney branded earplugs for the weak minded.
FOOTNOTE: Each modern day animatronic has a real presidential item on its “person” (watch, pen, etc.) Also I believe the hall of presidents is an actual real life federal presidential museum.
Disney has a ‘gay’ week or weekend. Lot of Hispanics there as well they might be ‘offended.’
Leftists are crazy. Maybe they can just put their fingers over their ears and hum...
I am hoping they dump the current narrator.
All Trump voters need to band together against the retailers that are fighting against the president they voted for. Kids will survive without seeing a cartoon of a mouse. Djsney should be boycotted for many reasons.
actually the homosexuals pick a weekend and go en-masse. It is not like a Christian event when they rend all of epcot. HOWEVER, it was so bad (offensive behavior) that Disney actually had to post warning signs and gave away free “not red” shirts to guests. Not to mention the extra security to help escort offenders out of the parks.
The entertainment industry is soon to learn a very painful lesson: There are more NORMAL people buying their products than the WHINY FREAKS they pander to....That is all about to change.
Since it is no longer possible to create permanent bookmarks to return to a specific thread at a later date (bookmarks expire after an hour, now) this is the only way to return to a thread requiring more time than is available to respond, here we are.
A related request/help issue is a way to return to the FR site to a specific time in the past; i.e. a given amount of time in the past, minutes, hours or days, etc.
If Free Republic has such an ability, I am unaware of it.
We have morphed from "Idiocracy" to Mobocracy" to "Stupidocracy."
More later.
“Disney fans” says it all.
Bush, Clinton, and Obama recorded their own tracks.
Trump will be no different.
