WASHINGTON Acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, a holdover from the Obama administration, ordered the Justice Department on Monday not to defend President Trumps executive order on immigration in court.
I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institutions solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right, Ms. Yates wrote in a letter to Justice Department lawyers. At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the executive order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the executive order is lawful.

Isn’t it past time for the Senate majority to go nuclear and confirm the new AG??
Considering that Zero popped up out of his hole to, yes, as usual, instigate violence and rioting without knowing all the facts, I’d say she took her cue from him.
They seem to be laying back....letting Trump go it alone. B@stards.
That’s easy to fix with just two words... and Trump knows them well from his TV show.
HONOLULU, Dec 21 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to announce on Monday that U.S. Attorney Sally Yates will be his nominee for deputy attorney general, the No. 2 position at the Justice Department, a U.S. official said.
Yates, 54, currently serves as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia where she is known as a close ally of outgoing U.S. Attorney Eric Holders Justice Department.
She is a vocal proponent of Holders policies on lowering incarceration rates by cutting jail time for low-level drug offenders.
During her time as a federal prosecutor in Georgia, Yates led several high-profile cases, including the successful prosecution of Eric Rudolph, who bombed a building in Atlanta during the 1996 Olympics.
Some Republicans, including Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and David Vitter, have threatened to hold up confirmation of the new attorney general, who would oversee Yates, over disagreements with Obamas new immigration policy.
If confirmed, Yates will replace outgoing Deputy Attorney General James Cole, who is leaving in January and has not announced future plans.
The choice of Yates signals that little may change at the Justice Department after Holder leaves the post.
Yates currently serves on Holders advisory committee of U.S. attorneys under the leadership of Loretta Lynch, Obamas pick to be the next attorney general.
Their very effective partnership leading the U.S. attorney community will be taken to a whole new level, said U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Paul Fishman, who previously led the committee. (Editing by Eric Walsh)

My vote and support stand with President Trump.
Thanks!
Not sure but if she is high enough on the ladder to be acting AG, she has probably been around long enough to prove her liberal bones.
Exactly... even better... match insults with insults... find someone under her that she passed over for promotion and put him/her above her head.... have that person reassign her.
she needs to be forced to step down
I hear its lovely this time of year in Barrow, Alaska. The only town in America above the Artic Circle. Only accessible by ship or air, I believe. Buy a vacant building Trump, name it a federal office building, and transfer her there.
Tomorrow. But with the backlog from delays today, it might take an extra day or two.
Checked her bio, She joined DOJ in Georgia office in 1989, made U.S. Attorney in 2010 after twenty years as assistant U.S. attorney. Not sure what that says about her fitness. That’s a long time without a promotion.

The Democrats are delaying my cabinet picks for purely political reasons. They have nothing going but to obstruct. Now have an Obama A.G.
You’d think the Senators would be quick to confirm one of their own to be Attorney General. I guess hating and opposing Trump is more important.
I’m guessing Trump will usr this soon.
