Congressional Republicans are moving swiftly to repeal Obama administration regulations aimed at better protecting streams from coal mining debris.

Coal country opponents of the rules say they would kill jobs in the coal industry, which is reeling from competition from cleaner-burning natural gas.

They unveiled legislation Monday to overturn December regulations through a process that permits Congress to revoke recently-issued rules in a manner that is immune to filibusters by Senate Democrats. …

Back in the 90’s, the congress passed legislation calling for congressional review of new regulations - if the review was requested, a simple majority vote could overturn the regulation. After it was passed and signed, it may not have ever actually been used, but it's still there, and can still be used. The republicans just need to call for a 60-day review of the regulations implemented in December, then when they fail to get the review, or get it but disagree, they vote to overturn it.

Charcoal, coal, the difference is fire has been applied already correct? I Eons of water flowing through the soil, through around and under coal deposits, they do not get polluted or ruined. Coal in water, big threat...lol.

Charcoal is wood (or other woody substances each having its own properties)which has been charred. Activated charcoal is that which has been treated with steam to increase the surface area. The charcoal adsorbs (collects on the surface) contaminates, as either gas or liquid passes over under around and thru.
