WASHINGTON (WABC) -- Starbucks says it will hire 10,000 refugees over the next five years, a response to President Donald Trump's indefinite suspension of Syrian refugees and temporary travel bans that apply to six other Muslim-majority nations.
The move sparked calls for a boycott, and on Monday morning, #BoycottStarbucks was the top trend on Twitter.
Howard Schultz, the coffee retailer's chairman and CEO, said in a letter to employees Sunday that the hiring would apply to stores worldwide and the effort would start in the United States where the focus would be on hiring immigrants "who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel."

I quit buying their coffee years ago when I found out they had such a liberal agenda.
They can’t find 10,000 low income Americans that need jobs?
I buy Green Mountain coffee. Hope they’re not liberals...
One boycott, many reasons.
I don’t drink coffee. I have not been in any coffee store in a bunch of years. It seems to me, a store can choose to hire any one they want. The civil rights act of 1964 said there shall be no discrimination on hiring. Barry Goldwater claimed that a business has the right to hire or not hire any one based on any reason or not reason. Therefore Mr. Goldwater was against the civil rights act because it went too far with regards to telling the people what they could do or not do. Regarding Star Bucks. Who cares?! Amazingly, 12 years ago the libs all hated Starbucks. I don’t know why. Libs have to be hating or they won’t know what to do. So, why are the conservatives hating. Why not make popcorn and watch the show.! It should be amusing.
Can’t boycott a business I’ve never patronized
I’d like to participate in the boycott, but I never buy their overrated, overpriced swill anyway. Uchhh!
I have probably bought exactly one hot chocolate sometime in 2007. Some headhunter wanted to meet me there.
Good thing for me that I despise coffee.
A few years ago, one guy suggested we meet at Starbucks down near Houston. We did and then I immediately suggested we dine elsewhere, which we did.
I would miss an old Fotomat kiosk / booth in a parking lot long, long before I would miss CommieStarbucks.
I have been in a Starbucks exactly twice, because I was with somebody that wanted something there... I don’t drink coffee and have not liked anything I ever tried from there, not to mention it is so overpriced, I would never spend my money on ANY of their products.
I quit buying their crappy coffee years ago. IF they want to hire the misogynistic, vile worldview that embraces pederasty and pedophilia and killing others who dont submit to their vile, irrational worldview, I certainly will never, ever go there again!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Bought only one coffee at a Starbucks, in a hotel where I attended a conference in Pittsburgh. Never set foot in one again. McDonald’s coffee is better anyway.
I never drank that overpriced dishwater. Anyone who would buy it now is crazy. Muzzies have poor toilet habits.
I CAN’T boycott: i stopped buying their overpriced swill many years ago because it’s overpriced and because it’s swill.
How about Muzzlimes spitting in the coffee before serving it to infidels, or worse?
A nice cup of typhoid coffee, maybe some leprosy on the side.
I loved that song growing up!!
Already gave up Ben & Jerry’s (BLM), and Subway (halal). Not going to give up Starbucks. We have nothing similar close by. I go to the literary Starbucks and have a few coffee friends there, although the only other Trump fan just moved to Spanish Harlem.
Coffe with refugee additives....
TB, Hepititis, intestinal diseases, parasites.......
I can’t not go to Starbucks any more than I’m doing now. Regardless, there’s no need to boycott. As they have found in Germany, very few refugees are either fit for or want to do even menial work. Let Starbucks spend their dough on such a futile endeavor, while more agile businesses replace baristas with robots.
Sorry, but I can’t boycott Starbucks. I bought a cup of coffee from them a decade, or so, ago. It was the worst coffee I have ever paid good money for (several Mybucks), and I have never been back since.
I haven’t bought from Starbucks in years. This isn’t their first political move for the Democrat party.
