Oh NO!
What did George Washington always say?? How did that quote go?
“It is far better to have gay nightclubs exploding in gunfire than to have even one Iranian boy miss out on science camp.”
I think I got it right.
This is the best pity party story the press could come up with? It’s lame.
Also....
Remember, if you subscribe to a newspaper YOU are funding the democrat party.
Go find a safe space kid. This is not the last time life will disappoint you and crying won’t help.
Yes, I know. Was there a few minutes ago.
But the article said Orlando, which I take to mean the Cape area: typically that’s where people stay when visiting KSC and CCAFS.
So the assumption is that he’s going to both space camps: KSC AND the one at MSFC.
Maybe that’s a bad assumption, but uh...that’s where my kid went to space camp!
PS: DO go to the KSC visitor center and take the tour. NASA seems to have a problem getting humans into space these days, but one thing they do well is theatrics: the visitor center and the Saturn V museum on base are fabulous.
I read “Orlando” as Disneyworld
:)
So?
Sounds like his problem is with Australia, for not giving him a passport, or with his parents, for refusing to be Australian citizens and keeping the Iranian citizenship.
“Grossly unconstitutional?” Is that right? So now the U.S. constitution extends to Australians of Iranian descent?
Fascinating...
LOL!!!
Speaking of Iranians, our paper had an article about how the temporary ban effects the local university. Surprise, surprise, there are 128 Iranian graduate students attending. They will have to cool it during the ban period. No travel home or to conferences out of the country. I didn’t realize we were on such good terms with Iran that we are exchanging students.
Good. Can’t have spacecraft slamming into buildings.
I guess these are education “positions” that American kids don’t want.
You are right about the citizenship part but I’ve read that non citizens who are actually physically in the US (for example, a tourist) have some (but not all) constitutional rights. For example they have the right to an attorney but not RKBA. I’m pretty certain that non-citizens not in the US have absolutely zero claim to any constitutional rights. That’s why the argument shifts to emotions
Another ‘Ahmed the Clock Boy’?
No thanks.
I remember that “clock boy”...
Meanwhile, I’m denied a host of things because of circumstances I couldn’t control. Even if I were quite strong and still young, I cannot follow any dream of serving our country militarily due to my cancer history. I cannot donate blood because of my cancer history, even were this a great passion for me. Because cancer is now thought to be merely dormant, rather than cured, I may not be able to donate a kidney to my mother should hers fail, even if that were essential for my emotional well being.
These people should suck it up and apply again next year, when this ban will likely be lifted.
I really don’t see why these people should be denied entry. It’s not as though Iran is a sworn enemy of the United States. /sarc
Sob Story PING!
Don’t know about the space camp side, but the air challenge side of Huntsville is wonderful (or was back in 1999 & 2000). My child went for a week each year and loved it. The program called to let me know he was sick, so I drove the six hours to check on him. Got there, only to find out he had recovered and was in the field learning Escape and Evasion. He talked the entire way home both years.
