In response to Trump's immigration ban, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted on Saturday afternoon "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada."

Moments later, his statement was echoed by Scotland's Nicola Sturgeon, who retweeted Trudeau's comment and added "Welcome to Scotland too."

I could not agree more. Canada lets in all kinds of riff raff, and if someone knows what they are doing, they could camp and hike their way across the border.

My husband grew up in a small village in the Gaspe. The border to Maine is only 17 miles away.

In spite of a Canadian Main Stream Media beating the drums of indignation against President Trump, I think this is right. It is a matter of logistics in many cases. Canada has a real homeless problem and in some cities a long waiting list for affordable public housing.
