This would be great. 55 electoral votes gone. republicans would dominate.

CA will go broke and we admit them back only on our own terms.

Or just build a second wall!

Great, then Hollywood can get back to work and find out what “fair trade” is all about.

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, you’d better believe that NorCal has no intention of leaving the United States and every intention of leaving California. The first steps are being taken now, an initiative that requires a binding constitution for the proposed ‘country’ be published before any initiative gets on the ballot, casually titled ‘You get to read it before you vote for it this time.’

California's secretary of state has given the green light for a group to take the first step in the political process for the state to secede from the United States.

California probably has enough illegal aliens registered to vote already to successfully secede. They will need to build a wall to keep the successful businesses in, especially after they increase their taxes to make up the loss of federal monies and the pay for their own defense and to maintain their formerly interstate highways. Maybe they will make them all toll roads.

Do not think it will happen if CA has anyone with common sense to think through such a foolish idea.

With all the freebies, their populaiton will increase to add all of the freeloaders. Free schools, free ice cream, free health care! Venezuela, here we come!

So, after they secede, will Kalifornians need a visa to enter Arizona?

WooHoo!

This would be the greatest thing ever.

CA is heavily liberal but a substantial number of people would leave so as to remain Americans. CA goes right down the tubes if it tries this.

Oh well, too good to be true.

“Or just build a second wall!”

Not necessarily—just start in the east and work their way west, if they are serious about leaving then when we reach the AZ and CA borders, we can just route the wall northbound....

I’m totally opposed to Calexit: a wall that length is impractical, UNLESS we make California pay for it.

Nonetheless, should this succeed, I surely hope that President Trump requires extreme vetting for immigration into the U.S.

I would hope that criminal history, employment history, education, net worth, and amount of capital to be transferred into the U.S. would all be evaluated.

I am all good with this. Let’s encourage all their right wingers to come East, push all of our loonies West, then invade two years later and shove them into the Ocean.

Music to our ears. Mexico can have Follywood and all the cheesy TV production in LA.
By the way, the border tax sounds good to us. We would pay an extra quarter for an avocado and other imports from Mexico as our contribution to building the big, beautiful Trump wall on our southern border. Texas is sick of spending billions on Mexico’s dependents.

And, let me see California would be responsible for social security, healthcare, welfare, education to their citizens. There would be a 20% tariff on goods, and California would have pay all their public employees, etc.

In addition, they would lose all the national security that is provided by the US Government.

And, how many people would leave that state if they didn’t have all the goodies provided by the US Government?

And, the reason for this is, Trump got elected? They would be the next Venezuela. Maybe Mexico will anex them and they all would live in a 3rd world country.

I keep hearing about so many out there wanting to exit, but they never clarify if they want to exit from the U.S. or California.
Is the press combining the two figures?

California only has one party now, Republicans in this state have NO voice anymore.
As with any political system without a check or balance graft & corruption are what’s expected.
Used to be so nice...

They can't leave.

#1. 40% of the whole country's welfare is in California. Without federal dollars, what happens to all that free stuff for mostly lazy people or people who don't belong here?

#2. Massive 280 billion in unfunded pension debt. They promised the world to state government workers in exchange for hundreds of millions of slush fund donations being returned to the Democrat party.

#3. They've already almost closed down themselves with over regulation with businesses.

#4. They have too much trash, homeless or illegals everywhere. Who really comes to California for vacations anymore like they do Hawaii? Granted it is not Chicago, but it isn't good anymore either.

I don't know what the big draw is now to those who haven't already been here for decades with stuff already bought.
New people go, or stay away.

They are also pot smoking and vaping themselves into oblivion. Idiots more than regular people, at least in the city areas.

The Reconquista ("reconquest") is a term that is used (not exclusively) to describe the vision by different individuals, groups, and/or nations that the U.S. Southwest should be politically or culturally reconquered by Hispanics, on the basis that those territories had pertained to Mexico before the Texas annexation (1845) and the Mexican Cession (1848), as a consequence of the Mexican American War, for distinct purposes.

Read more at Wikipedia

This is the true political war that is being fought in California and to a lesser degree in other southwest States. They don't care to become U.S. citizens, they wave the flag of Mexico, maintain their citizenship there and have the agenda of annexing parts of the U.S. for Mexico.

It is truly an invation in slow motion.
