Even though I really like the Patriots I will not watch the game live. I’ll tape it and skip over the ads and the pageantry...just pure football like watching a High School game and hope no one reveals the score!
They are Not singing at half time, the pre game festivals....
Guess I’d be broken hearted I will miss them, that’s my toe nail trimming time slot...
Well, the only reason we ever watch the Superbowl is for the halftime show. Which was pretty good last year, with Coldplay.
I think this year, we will do as some other FReepers above me have posted—we will watch the Puppybowl.
A not watching the NFL. Hamilton is another reason not to.
This is why ever conservative should be rooting all out for the Patriots. The ownership, coach and QB...probably many more are pro Trump. They also defy the racial imbalance being pushed by the NFL. The only team with a semblance of racial balance. This is why Goodell hates them.
Only problem with that idea is that, unless you're turning the DVR off at halftime, it still appears to the cable outfits/advertisers that you're watching the whole thing.

In the fifties I watched football on a 19” black and white TV, it was a real challenge to make out what was going on during a snowstorm but I still watched.
NOW I wouldn’t watch the game on a 50” super dooper HDTV because of the politics.
Don’t know about others on FR that live in the Houston area but I’m sick of all the hype about the Super Bowl. Just 24/7 on all the local TV channels.
They did one very, very brief interview of a young Black guy who said he was glad to have the extra temporary work on a construction crew. Extra income would help him feed his family but he did wonder aloud about who would really benefit from Houston having the Super Bowl. In his opinion it wouldn’t be any of the local citizens except for maybe some restaurant owners. Didn’t see his interview repeated at any other time.

Agree - the Super Bowl is essentially a SCAM...like a drug fix - get a bunch of money for a week or so, and then it’s all gone.
