Scientists say the world has edged closer to apocalypse in the past year amid a darkening security landscape and comments by Donald Trump. The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BPA) moved the minute hand of the symbolic Doomsday Clock from three minutes to two-and-a-half minutes to midnight. It is the second closest it has been. BPA chief Rachel Bronson urged world leaders to "calm rather than stoke tensions that could lead to war". In a report, the BPA said President Trump's statements on climate change, expanding the US nuclear arsenal and the questioning of intelligence agencies had contributed to the heightened global risk. It is the closest the clock has come to midnight since 1953, when the minute hand was moved to two minutes away following hydrogen bomb tests by the US and Russia.
What is the Doomsday Clock? The minute hand on the Doomsday Clock is a metaphor for how vulnerable to catastrophe the world is deemed to be.
The symbolic device was created by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in 1947. The BPA was founded at the University of Chicago in 1945 by a group of scientists who helped develop the first atomic weapons. Today, the group includes physicists and environmental scientists from around the world, who decide whether to adjust the clock in consultation with the group's Board of Sponsors - which includes 15 Nobel laureates. Why has it moved half a minute closer to midnight? For the last two years, the minute hand of the Doomsday Clock has stayed set at three minutes before the hour. But the BPA says the danger of global disaster is even greater in 2017, and so has moved the hand forward 30 seconds.

I think the kool-aid drinkers are running the show over there. Never has DT in any way said he wanted to proliferate nuclear weapons. What insanity is that. And where has he ever talked about using them. Just more fake news.
Even the scientists at the IPCC don`t forecast the end of the world - unless I am wrong about that. Their consensus is a 2% increase in temperatures that will cause major challenges for the world, including rise in the oceans. But none of that even closely equates to nuclear Armageddon.
Total fake news. Where has Trump ever threatened or mused about the use of nuclear weapons.
“Scientists” will develop or research ANYTHING they can get a grant for. They are the new “performance artists.”
The Democrats are just plain nuts. From deifying Obama to wanting to push the button with Russia because the DNC was revealed to be the criminal operation in RICO with the MSM.
I’d been wondering what happened to these guys.
The clock never moved.
All Trump has to do is talk about nukes, and the sirens go off, destruction is imminent!
Guess that puts the Doomsday clock right up there with the Nobel Peace Prize for over-the-top political bias.
Do they adjust for daylight savings time?
BPA? Bureau Principal Astrogolie?
All the real clocks I ever saw NEVER go backwards. And this one has done so repeatedly. So the fact that they can arbitrarily move the time BACKWARDS negates the whole symbolism of their stupid doomsday clock analogy.
THUS: FAKE NEWS
If the world is so delicate that “recent comments” from a man is moving it closer to doomsday, then we’re in a pretty precarious position.
It’s the clock that mankind carries within itself. Under extreme mental pressure the clock shows midnight, as it is with those that have lingered around at home without jobs.
It is said that there are 90 million of those unfortunates among us — that is almost 27% of our population.
That is why the term”jobs, jobs, jobs” was so important in getting Trump elected, and he knows it. For the 27%, mentioned before, Trump could become a savior.
What is the Doomsday Clock?
Didn’t Clockboy have something to do with this?
Good thing the war Hillary scheduled with Russia has been cancelled.
So that’s how the glo-bull warming “scientists occupy themselves between flurries of “scientific proof” that the seas will cover the earth any day now.
