Down the article, you see the guy posing with McCain, and later Jimmy Carter. That sort of seals the deal on the guy’s connection to the story.

...especially when you consider that the dossier based on this guys “testimony” went to the ex-MI-6 guy and then directly back to McCain. A little too convenient, no?

fake story reported to a legit person who reports it to an “authority” who reports (leaks) it to a media outlet which is then repeated in other outlets. Thus the story is quoted from some useful idiot news source as legit.
Obviously Christopher Steele, a very long experienced British intelligence analyst had some very strong motives - money???, political??? - for taking unverified and unverifiable information, 2nd hand. and originating with a source no one had vetted.
Mr. Steele’s motives should be the subject of an investigation in the U.K.
