Reagan tried this back in 1985 or ‘86, and NPR/PBS went absolutely out of their minds.

They essentially dropped every other subject, and went wall-to-wall with protest stories and dire descriptions of how the First Amendment would die if their gravy train wasn’t kept rolling.

Reagan, who at the time was worried about other things, relented.

That's why Trump's media skills are so valuable. He has to own the news cycles so that when it happens, the press will have one day before he does something else, and by five days later, so much will have happened that they will have no momentum to fight it.

Let’s hope Trump doesn’t give us Reagan’s O’Connor and Kennedy in a new face. Reagan was hamstrung too by a Democrat House.
