Fox News's Tucker Carlson is nearly doubling the ratings of his predecessor, Megyn Kelly, when compared to the same time period last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.
"Tucker Carlson Tonight" is up 95 percent in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers covet most compared with the same period in 2016, when "The Kelly File" occupied the 9 p.m. ET time slot.
Carlson has averaged 775,000 viewers per night in the category, while Kelly averaged 398,000 during the same time period, Jan. 11–22.
Carlson took over the 9 p.m. slot on Jan. 9, shortly after Kelly announced she would be leaving for a daytime program on NBC.
Fox had reportedly offered Kelly $100 million over four years to stay with the network last fall. The former corporate attorney-turned-broadcast journalist said spending more time with her three young children in the afternoon and evening was ultimately more important. She reportedly took less money to go to NBC, where she won't be hosting a show every weekday night as she had at Fox.
Overall, Carlson — who has hosted programs on CNN and MSNBC in the past — is up 37 percent in total viewers, at 3.73 million, and 50 percent, at 775,000, in the key demographic compared with Kelly's 2016 averages of 2.72 million and 515,000, respectively.
Kelly is expected to make her NBC debut in September.
When you think about it, she left a place where she had her own primetime time slot, her face was the dominant one, she was in charge.
She traded for some gig where she’s a daytime sidekick.
She really blew it at that first Trump debate last year. Then she couldn’t back down. Sorry waste of an otherwise smart lady.

In all fairness, we just had an inauguration, which likely led to an increased viewership during the past month. But certainly not responsible for almost double the ratings. I wonder what the ratings would be if Hillary had won and Megyn was still with Fox?

The good news is that Martha MacCallum's "The First 100 Days" show is temporary: It's only running for 3 months (President Trump's first 100 days). It will be interesting to see who replaces her in the 7pm ET slot. "The First 100 Days" may be Martha's prime time audition, though...
I cannot believe that Fox News hired idiot Obama lapdog Marie Harf, the dopey blonde with the Valley Girl voice. I will mute the TV/change the channel any time I see her. Her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard!

My guess is that McCallum is a placeholder as her show has a sunset after Trump’s first 100 days.
I’ve maintained for a while that Trish Regan will be getting the nod for the daily lineup. They need a woman. They’ve been grooming her for a while. She fits the preferred Fox News female archetype. She’s in her early 40s, which gives her an edge over McCallum, who’s in her early 50s.
I think Trish Regan will get the FN 7pm slot once everything settles.

I can’t stand Martha MacCallum, she’s more anti-Trump than Megyn and has far less personality.
After watching portions of two shows, I deleted her PVR timer permanently.
