Texas Sen. Ted Cruz introduced a bill on Tuesday that would declassify information about the terrorist activities of detainees at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba who have been released or transferred since Election Day.
The move came after a report that the Obama administration recently struck a deal with Oman to transfer 10 detainees from Gitmo. The move brings the total number of detainees down to less than 50.
Cruz and other Republicans have been heavily critical of Obamas transfers and of his promise to close the facility before leaving office. Republicans point to a statistic that 30 percent of detainees released or transferred from Gitmo either return to terrorist activities or are suspected of doing so. Obama has also been criticized for transferring detainees with known links to terrorists. Several close associates of Osama bin Laden drivers and bodyguards have been transferred from Gitmo.

245 detainees were at Guantanamo when Obama took office.

smart move
Can anyone think of a reason not to declassify this info, other than to protect incompetent or seditious politicians?
(1) Gitmo detainees
(2) Federal prisoners: (a) Political, like Manning and the Puerto Rican terrorist, and whoever else Obama lets out in the next 1 day, 13 hours, 54 minutes. (b) Drug. (c) Other crimes.
(3) 2008 financial crisis. One column listing the financial institutions fined. Another column listing the persons convicted: NOBODY indicted. Attorneys General Holder and Lynch ran out the clock on the statute of limitations.
...Can anyone think of a reason not to declassify this info, other than to protect incompetent or seditious politicians?....
Yes, its Obama. Incompetent. Seditious.
We should know the true facts about the people Obama has been letting go.
Then let him explain why again.
Perhaps as important is whet the people he has released have gone on to do because of his direct involvement.
In these cases, the commutations plainly went to ANTI-AMERICANS.
“Can anyone think of a reason not to declassify this info...”
It might reveal info about how we found them or knew they were the ones who actually did those terrorist acts.
I don’t see where Congress has the power to classify or declassify anything. That power rests solely in the Executive. If Trump cares to, he can declassify anything.
Protect sources and methods. Some actual patriot in the IC needs to review and redact (if necessary) before downgrading them and releasing them.
To protect a treasonous ex president

So many investigations are required - so much draining of the swamp/cesspool, needs to be done.
HOORAY Ted Cruz
If they are “safe enough” to release then the public deserves the “Transparency” that Obambi promised.
One of Zero’s campaign promises was to shut down Gitmo. By leaving it open with this many left, he’s admitted that it’s necessary. Every time one of those released is involved in a deadly terrorism event, it should be front page news with a caption “Obama has blood on his hands.”
