If ignorance is bliss, progressive kids at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are among the most blissful when it comes to the ABCs of free speech.
The Student Coalition for Progress recently petitioned to have the campus Young Americans for Freedom chapter deemed a hate group and its members subjected to “intensive diversity training.”
YAF, for the record, is largely a Reaganite bunch. But apparently spreading love of free markets and other conservative ideas creates “a hostile environment on campus.”
Triggering the whiners was a visit from conservative columnist Ben Shapiro, who spoke about how “safe spaces” limit free speech — which, the petition claimed, had denied “systematic and institutional violences” against marginalized communities.
Other charges against the YAFers: efforts to “misgender LGBTQIA+ students” and to launch discussions that “made unsafe prominent members of student government.” God forbid you fail to use my preferred pronouns — or try to debate a campus leader.
Happily, the petition bombed, scrounging barely more than a couple hundred signatures. But the effort shows yet again that “shut up” remains the central argument of the campus left.

Proud to see Young Americans for Freedom active. I wonder if my old YAF colleague Robert Ritholz is aware of this? He was our Wisconsin chairman and a founder of the Badger Herald.

Milo is going to the University of Washington in Seattle this weekend. The University decided at the last minute that they needed an extra $7,000 by the conservative group for “extra security”. The gal heading up the effort started a go-fund-me page. She has over $35,000 now! The Liberals are also posting pictures of her with her phone number and address all over campus and calling her a racist.

If they did get “intensive diversity training” then got through the training and STILL told those commies they are full of it, what’s next? Torture? Death camps?
THAT should cover about everybody.

Trump should stop federal funds for any school who do anything but strictly teach the subject. No more leftist professors scrwing up the young minds of concervative parents paying to get their child a real education to prepare them for real life and a career.

Progressive kids are depressed because the excuse for their vapidness was they represented the ‘working class’ and ‘abused minorities’.
Trump’s election has proved they only represent spoiled brats from upper-class all white communities.
That’s gotta suck.
These snowflakes are going to have a hard time getting a real job.
I can guarantee you these actions are show-stoppers for major HR departments.
U.W. Madison has been a pathetic snow flake institution for years and continues to be so.
In that article I found it interesting that the conservative gal that organized the Milo event said something like “I disagree with him on probably more things than I agree with him on - but I agree with him when it comes to free speech and the stupidity of “safe spaces” on campus.”
