It doesnt feel good to have your reporting labeled fake news by the man who is about to become president of the United States.
Immediately following Donald Trumps first press conference as president-elect last week, CNNs Jake Tapper defended his cable-news network over charges that it had misled the public by reporting on the existence of an unverified document that U.S. intelligence officials had presented to both President-elect Trump and President Obama.
While BuzzFeed published a copy of the dossier, which contained details of compromising information that the Russians supposedly have on Trump, CNN did not. It was a distinction that Tapper made abundantly clear during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers Monday.
As Tapper explained, the officials who briefed Trump didnt know if the information was real but they wanted him to know about it, that it was out there, because they thought it potentially affected national security. He also gave Meyers credit for being the first to get a member of the Trump transition team on record when he confronted Kellyanne Conway about the allegations last week.
You explained it great, you had all the details perfectly right, Tapper told Meyers. I wish I could say the same about everyone else who followed us in our reporting, but you were exactly on target. Conway, of course, denied that Trump knew anything about it.
Speaking on behalf of CNN and his reporting, which Meyers said has been conflated with BuzzFeeds, Tapper said hes been yelled at by both presidents and press secretaries before. But Ive never seen the effort to delegitimize an organization for a story that you dont like that has been proven, he said, noting that every word of the story that we reported last Tuesday has been proven correct.

I hope Trump sticks with Rep Price. This spinning of the facts on the part of the MoP (Ministry of Prooaganda) is an outrage.
The name is actually Fake Tapper
Oh, I LIKE IT!
Will be using it in the future.
Jake, Had CNN reported honestly and objectively during the Obama years and during the Clinton campaign, you might have earned some credibility. Instead you fawned over both Clinton and Obama, always looking the other way or discrediting anything negative that came forward on either of them. If Trump was guilty of a fraction of what Hillary is guilty of and had he been a fraction of incompetent as Obama was, you would be reporting it with orgasmic intensity 24/7.
If CNN would make an effort to report with some objectivity and fairness, perhaps some viewers would turn you back on. Instead CNN doubles down on their stupidity and bias and become a household joke.
Doubling down on the lies...
Tapper is somewhat more fair in his questions and reporting than his stable mates at CNN. My suggestion to him would be to start seeking work with a reputable news agency.
mission impossible ...
No one else gave it mention. CNN and Buzzfeed was a coordinated attack, plain and simple. CNN, if they were legit, should have covered things like;
1. Who wrote the fake piece of news.
2. Why did they do it?
3. When did they do it?
4. How did they do it?
5. Where did they do it?
Who, what, where, when, how and why, are the elements of good news story.
You didn’t cover any of it.
So, stick it, Jake.
Very occasionally.
But more often than most.
Don’t create fake news and you won’t get called fake news. It’s that simple.
Yes, I know that used to be Tom Snyder's slot, but that was a different time.

“Tapper has to go on a 12:30am comedy show to get his message out? Who’s watching that?”
The stereotypical millenial basement dwellers?
I think the best way to prove their irrelevance is to simply ignore them.
Tapper’s idea of reporting the truth: “Someone said Trump ate a dog. And that’s a fact.” S
The fact is that someone SAID it.
All members of congress have the opportunity to take advantage of insider trading. Think Pelosi and Bank of America.
“In some ways CNNs reporting was worse than Buzzfeeds. By publishing the whole so-called dossier, Buzzfeed allowed people to see for themselves how ludicrous the charges were, and therefore how false. CNN on the other hand, just mentioned the info, and said that the info was sourced from someone who the intelligence community previously had deemed credible. Ergo, there is no way that regular citizens wouldnt think that there is something awful out there on Trump, and that its been deemed credible by our intelligence agencies. Now let peoples imagination run wild as to the info!”
Totally agree with your thinking and it is worth repeating!
With liberals, it's all about the feeeellliiinnngs.
Can someone point out to this egg head, that by simply reporting that Buzzfeed has claimed the report to be true without commenting themselves, leaves it open to the reader and listener to consider it to be true.
In short, by reporting the Buzzfeed dossier, CNN is complicit.
I’m going with “Tap Smear”!
