Former Attorney General Michael Mukasey said Saturday that “it might not be a bad idea” if FBI Director James Comey resigned amid an investigation by the Justice Department’s inspector general of his handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe.
“The public has to have confidence in the chief law-enforcement officer — and I don’t know that we can await the outcome of all of these investigations until we find out whether we can have that confidence,” Mukasey, 75, who served under former President George W. Bush, told Uma Pemmaraju on Fox News.
“He has been compromised that much,” he added. “It is his own, not that he has been compromised by his own people.” …

I think a lot of maneuvering is going on here by guilty parties still gaming the system. My guess is Comey knows where some bodies are buried.

In my opinion, Comey has been due to leave ever since June of 2016, when he refused to indict Hillary. His judgement is poor or heavily compromised.
So yes, he should leave, like yesterday.

I see it as he helped Hillary. He exonerated her for a second time. The first time he said she broke the law but wouldn’t be prosecuted. The second time he cleared her completely of the rumors of what was on Weiner’s laptop.
I mean, back when he was General Counsel at LMT, he was pulling down $6m / year. No prole, that James!
Thinking back to 5 July, it could have been worse. Comey could have called for an indictment. The DNC could have booted the Hildebeest in favor of Bernie. Crazy Bernie could have won the general! Well, not that likely, but more likely than Hillary!
But Comey chickened out. I mean he laid out all the elements of the crime and then declared her Not Guilty. So, in due course, Wikileaks booting Poodlehead for having F-ed Bernie, the DNC nominated her, and the rest is history.
So, what should happen to James?
Should he be fired for failing to take out HRC? (And leaving the task to the Donald?) Or, as the Donks will say, should he be fired for burying the Hildebeest in Carlos Danger's emails just days before Election Day (he did promise Congress he would notify them if anything came up, and Carlos came up)?
The truth is, the Hildebeest was a vile candidate who was destined to lose in any case. Bernie was marginally better, but only because he didn't have Obama's legacy on his back quite to the extent Hillary did. But in all likelihood, the outcome would have been what we will have next Friday. President Donald J. Trump!
I would tend to agree with you....once Wiener’s laptop came into the picture, and the NY Police Department knew the full contents and had access to the email folder with Hillary’s ‘copy’....the whole thing was in free-fall.
Comey could have just stood back and let the NY cops do all the talking and the full blast would have occurred just days prior to the election. You would have had a more negative affect upon Hillary’s campaign and lost an additional 200,000 voters across the US. In some ways, Comey was doing Hillary a favor by putting this bad situation out in front and give her at least two weeks to work this out.
Comey has a long history of helping to let H->! slide.
