Cash-Banning Harvard Professor Slams "Ignorant" Negative-Rate-Naysayers

Not satisified with demands for banning cash in America, Harvard economics professor Ken Rogoff has lashed out at critics of negative interest rates, calling them "ignorant" in their analysis of the unprecedented measures.

As a reminder of Rogoff's recent proclamations, according to the esteemed ivory tower academic, paper currency lies at the heart of some of today’s most intractable public-finance and monetary problems. As Rogoff explains in The Wall Street Journal, getting rid of most of it - that is, moving to a society where cash is used less frequently and mainly for small transactions - could be a big help.

Rogoff's begins by stating factoids as facts...

[excerpt from Rogoff]

So to clarify - Cash (and Donald Trump) are at the center of all of America's and the world's ills and therefore - as a PhD who knows best - we must destroy it (for your own good).

He studied our constitution to be able to subvert or ignore it every day he was president.

He could not have usurped the office without the assistance of the GOP.

They had a stable full of ineligible candidates that they wanted to run.
Cruz, Rubio, Jindal, Haley and George P. Bush.

Hmm.

Well, I'm no fan of this paper scrip either. We made a big mistake when we scrapped the silver coinage.

To my way of thinking, if it was good enough for William the Conqueror, it's good enough for me.

Yep. Reality.

That is why I am not a leftist.

That is why I voted for a Main Street businessman.

This is becoming a big push now, for total globalization with a cashless world. They are doing it in India right now, with Greece also going that way. When enough countries are in the new system, the US will be forced into it just to stay alive in the new world economy. Before then is when Americans must shout down the Globalists everywhere they stick up their pointy little heads. If the US ends up in a cashless world, it may be too late for a Civil War to turn things around.

calling them "ignorant" in their analysis of the unprecedented measures.

From Harvard: "In addition to academic research lectures at universities, Professor Rogoff also gives talks to a wide variety of audiences worldwide, including central banks, finance ministries, government and non-government associations, financial institutions, energy groups, and major companies."

So here's a guy who evidently never worked in the real world, nor had to meet a payroll, calling others "ignorant" on financial matters.

I call it "Projection".

I worked at a University early in my life and found most PhDs have something seriously lacking when it comes to common sense. And any advice from a Harvard PhD should taken, turned 180 degrees, and then implemented.

Why is it that the ones at the peak of academic achievement, are totally oblivious to the world as it really it?

ban cash and the dems will have more to fear from the Blood and Crips than from DJT

I'm not sure it would play out that way. As usual, the law-abiding middle class would suffer. They'd have all their "money" in bank accounts, and every transaction would involve a fee. No interest would be paid on savings. Expenses such as insurance, utilities, loans, would be automatically deducted. There'd be a total record of their every move, based on transactions. Big gov would have the capacity to determine how much money could be allocated to specific categories of spending. Taxes would be automatically deducted and transferred.

Meanwhile, a barter system and silver and gold would be used for a lot of transactions, especially locally. An off-the-books economy would emerge, and everyone who took that path would be a criminal and could be jailed.

Without cash, there is no freedom left. What's most appalling is how much of our lives already operate that way. I doubt that folks under age 40 (or so) would even object. Cash will be phased out, as is happening now. When us old folks die off, that's when the transition can be completed.
