An armed passerby fatally shot a suspect who had opened fire on a trooper in an apparent ambush attack as the law enforcement officer, who was responding to a shots fired call, stopped to investigate a car crash along Interstate 10 near Tonopah on Thursday.
The incident started shortly before 4:30 a.m. with a 911 call from a driver east of California who said somebody shot at his car from the median, television station KPHO in Phoenix reported.
According to Col. Frank Milstead, the director of DPS, the trooper was responding to the shots fired call when he came upon a single-vehicle rollover wreck near Tonopah. A woman had been ejected from that vehicle.
The trooper immediately stopped and began laying out flares.

Don’t need a permit to carry concealed in Arizona either.

I wonder if there was something in the car that they were trying to keep people away from. Looks like both occupants of the car are dead.
We don’t need concealed carry permits here in Arizona.
I still keep mine from Washington for sentimental reasons, but not needed here.
Arizona has had permitless open carry since 1912, and passed Constitutional Carry in 2010.
You may obtain a concealed license in Arizona, in order to use it for reciprocity concealed carry in other states, but you do not need a permit to carry openly or concealed in Arizona.
Arizona is a Constitutional Carry state. Citizens have the option to obtain a CC Permit, but do not have to. Open and concealed carry are legal in AZ without a permit.
Back in the 70’s in Texas, a deer hunter put a .243 round through the head of a perp that had just shot a DPS officer.
NRA gave that deer hunter a new gun.
And another story:
I’d be surprised if a permit is needed in AZ to have a pistol in your car.
Why would skin color be mentioned?
Who gives a crap?
Garbage media’s propensity for mentioning race when it fits the left’s narrative.
I could care less, personally, but I’ve noticed it.

Happy Ending.
Good. We need MORE of this.

“KTLA seriously needs an editor to proof postings! That one is seriously messed up and confusing. I think my 9-year old could have written a better article.”
A common problem throughout the media these days. I have to read and re-read stories, wondering how they ever got past a copy editor. I suspect such trivial things as proper grammar and coherent sentence structure are electives in today’s journalism schools!
News used to be a recitation of facts - who, what, when, where, how. The reader was assumed to have the education level and the necessary logic to make their own decision about the story. Oh, how times have changed! Now, we are lucky to get half the facts, poorly presented, with an editorial bias inherent in even the simplest of pieces
You can carry a weapon concealed, in AZ, without a permit. Many of us have a CCW, so that we can carry out of state, in those states that have reciprocity with AZ.
You don’t have to have a carry permit to have a gun just as long as it isn’t concealed.
I would like to know if this is another attempted execution inspired by B.O.
