What CNN did was far worse than BuzzFeed. BuzzFeed clearly expressed skepticism about the story in their lead paragraph, noting numerous errors and improbabilities in the report, whereas CNN breathlessly reported the story in total seriousness with no critical reasoning exhibited whatsoever. Now they are lying and pretending this is a First Amendment issue. The First Amendment has never protected libel, nor is it an excuse for sloppy reporting.
