The Chicago Cubs will be the final pro sports team to celebrate a championship with President Obama at the White House before he leaves office. It turns out, the Cubs have reportedly decided to take Obama up on his offer to visit before Donald Trump is sworn in as our 45th president. Theyll visit Monday, four days before the inauguration.
After the Cubs won the World Series in November, Obama a White Sox fan from the Southside of Chicago invited the Cubs to take part in the traditional presidential celebration earlier than normal. Usually, these visits happen during the baseball season.

Liberal, Obama sycophant Theo Epstein.
Obama invited them. This is a non story to me. IDC what pro team refuses to stay away. The media think people are hurt over celebs and pro jocks refusing to meet with Trump or refusing to perform for him. These people hold no power over the American voter when it comes to real life.

Do you think Trump has time for that foolishness?
Two seasons too late. FOOTBALL is winding down. All eyes are on BASKETBALL season.
He will once he's president. Watch.
Phony azzol.
The White House has been back open for visitors for years. Contact your congressman or senator for tickets.
I don’t need too many reasons to enjoy watching my Royals kick the crap out of the Sox, but knowing who their biggest fan is doesn’t hurt.
They’re good enough and young enough, they’ll be back while Trump is in.
Off days are at a premium during the season, too. I don’t see it as a big deal, and Obama’s from Chicago.
Joe Madden likes Trump.
And no, I will not say how I know.

I don’t mind this, actually. Obama was the President when they won the championship, so it’s fair that they go to the White House while he’s there.
That and what someone else said down thread... they would have to contend with protests and threats of boycott if they wait.
Obama isn't a White Sox fan--he just claimed to be one because they are located in the south side of Chicago. He probably couldn't name a single player on last year's team.

Two observations:
First: I think these WH gatherings are always too late and ought to be observed within the fist 2-4 months of the event. Often they are so long after the championship occurs, that the public has already lost interest in the team.
Second: Since the Cubs are a Chicago team, it is entirely understandable that they would want to have their celebration with a President who is from Chicago.
OK folks. Heads up! We have only 9 more days until DJT will be inaugurated as our 45th POTUS. Hoofray.
Yes! PTL!
Don’t do it, cubbies. You used to be looked-up to. Look what happen to notre dame after they gave Clown Dunce nobama an honorary doctorate. This is a major fail.
When the POTUS invites you to the White House for a nonpolitical function, you go.
I think the Cubs are just trying to stay classy here.
