Like communists turning to socialists turning to progressives to liberals and back to progressives again, they were once called “youths” but the name changes are supposed to stay ahead of the derision. Now they’re “juveniles,” but that’ll go down the memory hole again once people start calling them “juvies.”
Oftentimes the media doesn’t even have to call them teens or youths. Just naming the perps is often all we need to know.
