So putting America first is fascism. I guess I’m a fascist. Who knew? I always thought fascism required an unchecked dictator. Seems the mayor of Ithaca is acting like a dictator so that must make him a fascist as well.

O my Gosh! I had no idea of any of this - I “knew” this somehow just being in the physical area - often my sense of discernment is correct - I have learned to trust it.
I will pray extra hard for my niece who graduated from Cornell - she moved to San Francisco so from the proverbial “from the frying pan into the fire” applies for now.

No generalizations , no He is a racist, he is Hitler or any other silly nonsense. Provide one verifiable incidence where Trump or anyone in his Administration did anything remotely hostile to you or any one of your actual city residents.
If you can not then try to grow up and act like an adult!
Back in the late '60s, Dad was looking into working for Ithaca Guns and opted to decline after he researched the city....he loved working on/with guns.
My first husband attended Ithaca college and I am a Cornellian. Ithaca was a lovely place in the ‘60’s. What a shame it has descended into purgatory as is evident now. Shows what socialism can do.
This is 100% exactly what he himself is doing. He is trying to dehumanize conservatives who believe in our laws being enforced as "fascists," simply because they don't agree with his hard-left, anti-rule of law, anti-democratic stances. This dehumanization with lies, spin, slander, and distortions of their political opponents by much of the left is exactly what has spurred all the violence against Trump supporters and those just suspected of being Trump supporters since the election (even in a few instances against children), including the recent horrible abduction and torture in Chicago.
Could this man possibly be less principled and more hypocritical? The hatred of regular, upstanding, law-abiding Americans from many on the left, who are extremely intolerant of other opinions like this "mayor," is disturbing and a threat to our civilization and safety.
Set up a test situation. Then with the first whiff of non-compliance with federal law, issue federal arrest warrants for the mayor and city councilmen. They will be heroes for a short time, but after a year or so in prison, they might find their heroism less glamorous.
Don’t be an insipid jerk. Cornell is a great university and still certinly not as lost as Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.

Our daughter who ended up not at Ithaca was visiting there for a possible BFA in Acting - she ended up at Pace in NYC and loved it - Acting BFA.

I graduated from Cornell and have absolutely none of the Socialist-Marxist tendencies or beliefs you ascribe to the entire town and university. Perhaps the difference is the passage of years from the time of Patriotism in the 50’s and 60’s to the present dependency on the government which has been fostered to enlarge the influence of socialism and Communism in general throughout the country. I am sure there are people in Ithaca who are in disagreement with this mayor.They cannot be blamed for his election if they voted against him. FYI all Germans were not Nazis in the Second World War either. The German underground was quite active in getting Jews out of Germany as well as rescuing British and American airmen and passing them on to the French Underground.
