Barack Obamas plan for military intervention in Syria was abruptly derailed by David Cameron and British members of parliament, US secretary of state John Kerry claimed on Thursday.
The American president said he would bomb the Syrian regime if it used chemical weapons but he did not follow through on his promise. The failure to enforce his stated red line after President Bashar al-Assad used sarin gas in a Damascus suburb in August 2013 is seen by some as the worst stain on Obamas legacy.
The British parliaments vote against air strikes has long been cited by Obama and others as a causal factor but Kerry made the link explicit just a week after a diplomatic spat with the United Kingdoms prime minister, Theresa May, over a United Nations resolution that condemned Israel.
The president of the United States of America, Barack Obama, did decide to use force and he announced his decision publicly and he said were going to act, were going to do what we need to do to respond to this blatant violation of international law and of warnings and of the red line he had chosen, he said.
Now, we were marching towards that time when, lo and behold
Prime Minister David Cameron went to the parliament
and he sought a vote for approval for him to join in the action that we were going to engage in. And guess what, the parliament voted no, they shot him down. . .

It’s like a Headline Template lately: (Democrat name here) blames (whatever) for (their latest failure.)
Kerry has a whine as long as his own jaw.
Nice. Throw Britain under the bus.
Obama failed because the Queen of England interfered.
Always someone else to blame for Obama, Hillary and Kerry’s failures. It’s play #1 in the liberal, know nothing playbook.
Somehow, I think this grade school blame the dog business is not only *not* selling, but causing the Butt Hurt to be seen as cartoon characters, by the American people. Too much of anything becomes a monotonous joke, when overdone.
I’m not even remotely convinced that it was Assad who used the chem weapons
Obama just wants to put his al-Qaeda backed Jihadists in control of Syria and start a war with Russia at the same time.
15 days and then it will get better
This has never been the way it works. Only an amateur would make such an inflexible statement without solidifying international support first and foremost, or at least that of our closest ally. Barak Obama wrote a check that his A** couldn’t cash. Eight years as President taught him nothing.
So Obama announced a red line, but the enforcement of it was not under his control, huh?
Nothing 0bama ever did went badly. Did you know that? Everything that may have happened that turned into a disaster was actually someone else’s fault. And they are to be blamed, moving forward, that is. No longer can we for too long because that’s not the kind of people we are.
How French of him
Oh yeah right....because a great leader allows others to make him look bad
Maybe they were hacked by Rushins!!!
John Kerry made the case in 1998 for going to war against Saddam Hussein, he’d have a hard time claiming “Bush’s fault” taking us to war here too...
