What we talk about less, and is perhaps still a forbidden topic on Free Republic, is both why this is happening, the frequency with which it is happening, and what a solution might be.
Put bluntly America has a black crime problem that appears virtually intractable, and like a crazy uncle in the family, no one likes to talk about it. To do so is to ensure you will be called a 'racist', and perhaps even branded as such.
Any discussion of black crime needs to be realistic and take into account the 'white flight' of the 1960s, 70s, 80s and beyond. Essentially these were caused by rampant black crime, frequent violent street crime, endless property crime, and occasional full scale race riots.
The history of the development of the far flung American suburbs is the story of whites fleeing black crime and disfunction for places with "good schools".
Yet, even here, on Free Republic we are encouraged to pointlessly vent by coming up with the most gruesome punishment for this particular set of black hate criminals and discouraged from discussing the larger epidemic which it is surely part of.
By discouraged I mean forbidden to post from sites like American Renaissance that meticulously (and fairly) catalog black crime and black on white violence.
It is "racist" to discuss reality, so we simply don't.
And because we can't even discuss the problem, we certainly can't talk about practical solutions, something that goes beyond more midnight basketball, or reminding ourselves that "Democrats are the Real Racists", or supporting our favorite GOP candidate for office. Because if we here on FR can't discuss these unfortunate hate facts, it's a certainty that the politicians can not.
So, excuse me for interrupting the punishment-a-thon. It's tiresome and pointless.
I do applaud the trend of FR even allowing these sorts of comments or discussion, that's pretty different from 10 or 15 years ago, when even someone as renowned and gentle as the late Lawrence Auster was persona-non-grata on the site. Today many of his insights would be shared by many Freepers. So there is movement in a positive direction, but still I feel we are strangely constrained and simply re-enacting the same morality play over and over, without making progress in fixing anything.
If I'm still around in 2027 I expect Freepers of that era will still be sounding off about what wicked punishment the latest black gang of criminals deserve for the latest crime they have been caught red-handed doing, and a few more American cities will have completed their Journey to Darkness, as Detroit, Philly, Camden, St Louis and Cleveland have.
For those of use that can’t bring ourselves to watch the video..apparently..according to reddit...the perps promoted their soundcloud music during the video.
So what are your ideas/suggestions?
